Some relief from the heat. You need to sit down with a bottle of your favorite brew for this. Aside from a new roof on the lodge (long overdue) there is now some serious "glading" taking place in some areas where I have gone bushwacking in the past. Pearly has been finished and I do believe that those between heaven and dew are now mostly opened. I'm not sure but there's talk of glading between heaven and thunder too. Maybe above the pumphouse as well. I understand that Cherry bowl is on the to do list which will make the sking much easier without worry of snags. The plan is to eventually glade the entire mountain. Rumor has it there will be improved snowmaking but that's yet to be seen. The glading will allow blowover from guns to be put to use. That, along with the copious amount of snow usually on the ridges and t-line should become, without a doubt the best sking south of Vermont for those who like an off piste experience. It's always been good for that but this will enhance it, especially on pow-pow days. Maybe enough real skiers will come so that the boy scout experiences won't be necessary and they won't clog up the lifts on weekends.
Another rumor has the t-line race team cutting and funding the infrastructure for a "race trail" somewhere to the skier right of lightening. It would be open to the public when the team would not be practicing. Probably a steep groomer similar to the drop.

The glading isa definite. There have been several groups of patrolers and local doing the work. If anybody else knows more or is better connected on this please jump in.

brrr.. 48 degrees this morn! yes, the downhill mountain bike guys and local boys have been going to town with the glading. not that they are getting paid by tline, but because it's a passion just as I and a few others build and maintain bike trails in the national forest, parks and private lands. But what's funny is, you can almost count the number of people on one hand who do all that stuff. It is all done for personal enjoyment and nobody is looking for praise, but if anyone wants to show their appreciation, come out and get your hands dirty smile

Yeah, those guys are doing a great job with the mtn bike trails. I have been donating extra job site lumber for ladders and ramps...and the pics are awesome...once word gets out there should be a flux of downhillers at t-line (I wonder why t-line doesn't advertise this new free improvements to the mountain...just kidding I really don't wonder why).

There has also been some ski glading but it has mostly been on the skiers left side of the mountain where it is fairly flat. I don't know if they plan on going over to some better pitches or not.

On another note as long as I have been up here I have never seen t-line getting ready for the season so early! they are out fixing water lines, working on the old grooming equipment, patching up all the dated infrastructure. They are even putting new shingles on some of the aid room/daycare building. I have also hear that Fred is looking to move up to the valley full time...so that should give an indication that the odds of Doc selling are even slimmer, unfortunately...

Anybody heading to the valley this weekend? The weather should be good and with it being the last summer fling... I'm heading up and can be found at the late night campfire at the horseshoe in Northwoods "sipping and swilling" grin into the night. Should be good for berry pickin in the sodds too.

I was at the hill last weekend and noticed that they replaced the wooden slats on the bunny lift with what appears to be plastic bottoms and backs. Looked pretty good from a distance.

I got back to the valley this weekend. They have been working on the snowmaking infrastructure and from my understanding are adding some more snowmaking to the mountain. I believe I heard that they were installing more guns or sticks too. There was a good crowd in the pub Saturday evening so business seems to be picking up.
