EPIC MIX is awesome

Just spent a week in Summit County Co skiing. Great trip but was really cool was the Epic Mix program. The program records your vertical feet as you ski by every time you check into a lift using RF. It sounds big brother but is very cool. You win medals for different achievements (certain runs, chairs etc...) It was great! I hope it will expand to other resorts or they will have similar programs.
I racked up 87,000 vertical ft in 4 days and scored level 7 with 15 medal awards.

Gee, wander what level I would have gotten last week. Me and a buddy skied 200,000 vertical feet in 5 days at Stratton, Killington and Okemo.
My buddy has an AVOCET ski watch. records vertical feet, runs, temp. cool device, http://www.avocet.com/index.htm

Nice feature for those who are interested in it. I just don't understand the attraction. Personally, I couldn't give a crap how much vertical I rack up in a day. More concerned with the quality of the turns. And I do get some quality.
C'mon JohnL, you're a computer jock, you should know that leveling is the biggest draw in all games...
BG signed on; I didn't. Her numbers come in useful to predict waxing needs.

You mean you're not suppose to wax after every day regardless of vertical? Ha, Marcus heavy waxes, scrapes once to even out the highest spots then he leaves the rest up to eastern ice and rocks.
Solitude may have something similar, but I think it is hooked up to the lift gates and not an overhead RF device. Per some folks at the Epic Gathering, the CO EPIC MIX gets flaky on occasion, especially during heavy snowfalls. Likely signal attenuation issues.

Comprex, I'm surprised you haven't buried some sensor into BG's skis to measure snow crystal abrasiveness in addition to the total vert skied. (And BTW, vert is not the proper variable, it is ski distance traveled. The hypotenuse of the triangle.
) Thanks again for your ski tune tutorial and alcoholic beverages. Never learn anything new sober.

Got to ski with Bob Barnes at Copper this afternoon. Not only had the pleasure of skiing with an incredible skier, he even dug out a video cam for a run and we had an impromptu video review of our skiing over beers at HH.

^that, btw, is only half a joke.
I am -totally- convinced that y'all's wax is chronically too soft, and I want to prove it.
