There is at least some snow cover in every state in the lower 48 as of 7:00 AM this morning

I heard someone (on Channel 4, I think) say that yesterday, all 50 states had snow cover (probably atop some volcano in HI, but it counts, right?)

Actually, it is not unusual for the volcanos on the Big Island to have snow for several months a year. There is actually snow cat skiing on the mountains. The tallest mountain is actually the tallest mountain in the world, when measured from the base on the ocean bottom!

Cat skiing in HI might be a strech...but you can drive up the road to the top and find a few patchs to get some turns in. There was a surf shop in Kona that even had some rental equipment at one time.

I heard that there was only snow in 49 states but it wasn't confirmed. Apparently there's no snow in Hawaii due to a drought.

The same source said that although snow in all 50 states is rare, it happens a few times a century.

The very first post says lower 48, which would not include Hawaii. Though I certainly would think Alaska has snow, so that's 49/50 at a minimum.

And there is skiing on the Big Island:
