Snow totals in Canaan Valley
January 11, 2010
Check out the snow totals in Canaan Valley from Jan 1-10...
http://canaanweather.4t.com/...that's over 4 feet of snow since the first of the year...we're at 101 inches already, less then 40 inches until we get to the season average and it's only Jan. 10th!!! conditions are as good as they get...come ski the valley!
Whats the record for snowfall in a season?
Somebody's been riding pow and turned that frown upside down
ahhhh...isn't that cute, you just sit back and wait to pounce don't you...probably more like 60 inches outside yearly average so far...but there is still a boatload of snow up here...looks like more snow tomorrow 2-4"...
Ah, Danielle..longtime no see!
Tucker, I'm jealous...
Hmm... what's the snow profile look like these days? When I was in around Christmas there was a 20" base or so that acquired a solid ice crust before New Year's. Putting another quick 4 feet on top of that seems like a recipe for some interesting avalanche potential.
Then again, an avalanche in the Mid-A? Well, it's happened at Wisp before...

Wouldn't worry about inbounds or side country. The Pow Hounds have compacted most of the new snow into a stable layer.
Canaan Valley has more snow for the season than Vail, Co already!
