Charles enters the exclusive tour de NIH It's usually hard to stay ahead of the snowplows on the campus roads and sidewalks, but today their tracks filled in quickly. He says it's not Laurel Highlands, but easy to get home for lunch.

I tried to go around our neighborhood this morning, but the 2 feet of snow was tooo much for my skinny waxless skis. a 1/3 of the pole would disappear on each plant.

That trench looks like something from a Bugs Bunny cartoon! I hope you didn't forget to make that left turn at Albuquerque.

Dave,

What you don't see in that pic is Willy E. Coyote going off the edge of the cliff! With the ACME jet-powered XC skis.

Haha, that hill has about twenty feet of vert. My max speed on that descent was maybe 3 mph.

19 foot more vert and 2 mph more than I got today. mad But looks like the Fed Gov is closed tomorrow, so I'll be getting my own real soon.

Fixed the link, sort of. Found a little bit bigger hill on the way back from the store today.

I'm easily amused, so I made several laps.

Farmed a few more turns.

Some trees.

A track I made through the woods. Someone else had used it by the time I went back. This used to be a trail, but now it's covered in brush during the summer time. Everything is under the snow now. The hill I made turns on is probably covered with bushes too.

Here's some pics I snapped yesterday afternoon of an XC tour near Massanutten in Virginia... it just blows my mind how much snow is out there.

A quick break after climbing a hill... over 2' of cover here!

Not quite steep enough to make real turns

Extreme XC Skiing! wink

Heading back home...
