I am thinking about going up to Stowe for the Epic Ski Academy. Possibly leaving Thursday 12/10 and coming back Monday 12/14.

Would anybody local be interested in driving up/down with me?

I have read a lot of good things about the instruction and coaching that you get from this event.

I have seen and heard a lot about Epic Ski on this forum. In context I thought that Epic Ski was just another internet group like this one, only much larger. Who are these guys? Who does the teaching? It certainly looks like a good deal but I would want to know the teaching backgrounds of the folks doing the teaching. I browsed around their site and didn't find it. Also find it curious that none of my VT friends ever mention it.

I can't make those dates anyway and this season it looks like they will be very hard pressed to find much skiable terrain.

I wish I could go and I still hold out hope that I can pull it off but we couldn't share rides even if I got it together(Pittsburgh boy am I) The coaching is the best, no doubt. I don't know if Weems Westfieldt will be there but Bob Barnes should be. No matter who you draw you'll be in good hands. This is a great way to begin the season right. The two I attended help me hone some basic skills and built a good technical base for the rest of winter.

I had

Stu Campbell

Weems Westfeldt
Bob Barnes
Jeb Boyd

in that order.

Still kicking myself for missing Dan Egan.

I find that: not curious at all.

Locals, especially ski college locals, generally don't go nuts about season-opener coaching on manmade blues. Even if that level of coaching generally -isn't- available to the public.

The bulk of the work -is- highly technical skills work on blue runs (and usually no steeper) I can see that anyone local might perceive that as, well, dull schoolwork.

Stowe has always done well by ESA, there has always been plenty of blue and green terrain for technical work.

Thsnks, PJ. Guess I've become a lazy browser. http://esa.epicski.com/whos-who/ That's quite an impressive list. I will have to make one of these events in the future.
