Leaf Peepers Festival in Canaan/Davis/Thomas!!
September 21, 2009
Come enjoy Tucker county in its colorful glory and have fun with days of events while you are at it Sept 25-27. Based on the color change already it will be colorful in a week and a half for this! Have fun in the 5k run and many other events and shenanigans going on all weekend and just enjoy the small mountain town vibes we have up here.
Leaf Peepers Festival
I just checked out the CV web cam and there is color starting to show up everywhere.
Should be a nice weekend for pictures. If anybody goes up, you should stop by Olsen Fire Tower for spectacular views.
I'm going to be up in the valley so I might as well play tourist and do the Davis Peeper's thing.
I'll be serving the beer.
Well, I have a tests on Monday and Tuesday this coming week, so next weekend I'll be looking to get away. If I can talk a person or 2 into going AND can find a place to crash I may be up. I'd really like to get in the Sods and get some berries before they are all gone. We'll see if those stars align or not though....
Got down to 36 degrees this morning here in Davis. Perfect for advancement of foliage. Should be cold again tomorrow morning. Could use some rain though, hopefully get some early next week and then clear up for a spectacular festival next weekend. I think the colors should be fantastic. I took this picture three days ago from the balcony of the Meyer House looking toward Canaan Mountain!
But Who is going to fix the Roof?..Nice pic!
Never been to the Peepers thing. Anybody recommend anything worth doing or signing up for? Or should i just hit the trails and make my own plans.
Those leaves changing color are more than three weeks ahead of last season... Same here in Virginia. I was in Williamsburg on Saturday and could say the same about them there. Maybe I'll get my fall clean-up done BEFORE ski season begins this year.

I can tell you we need big volunteer help for the
40 mile mountainbike ultra race if you want to volunteer some time to help man an aid station/checkpoint or course marshal somewhere. if you can commit, email me or call blackwater bikes and git yer name down!
(hellbenders should be kicking down burritos for the volunteers)

I highly recommend the Mountain State Brewing Co. beer I will be serving.
Everything else after that will be very entertaining; including the ghost walk through town with a main stop here at the Meyer House!
