I love that video. Found it about a year ago and have watched plenty of times since then. I've drawn a few conclusions:
1. I really want a pair of red ski pants adorned with white stars.
2. Those guys (duh, Stein Erikson) are awesome skiers.
3. Despite some upgraded lifts and more crowds, Alta hasn't really changed that much and that's a good thing.
Yeah, my wife sent that to me a couple weeks ago and I love watching it. A lot of the terrain they are skiing is right off the (current) Collins lift, and is easy to get to.
I was playing with old-school wedeln turns the other day, and it was really fun. I may start rocking that more often. I propose a DCski meetup where we ski at least one full run wedeln style.
would love to go back to 1974 with modern powder skis.
with noone else on them you can simply out class everyone from back then.
Did you notice the technique they were using? It was exactly how I was "taught" to ski powder back in '73 at Vail. Sit way back on the tails and keep those tips "floating". It took a long time to un-learn that.
