According to AccuWeather it looks like Canaan Valley could be looking at another 12"+ of POW by the weekend!

check the play by play weather thread, just posted a discussion. That is probably one of the best maps accuweather has ever produced, way better than their normal maps that include WVA in the 1-3 sector when they are getting 3 per hr!

ya, by tgiving there could be 40 inches on the ground, no joke, thanksgiving this year will be far better than white grass had at all last year. No doubt whatsoever in my mind. Tline could open with 100% natural if they choose.

This does set the bar awfully high for the season! I have a feeling we better enjoy it while we can...

Yes, definitely enjoy it while you can. That should be the motto for mid-A skiers.

My weather app (which pulls from the NWS forecast database grid) is showing 9" for Snowshoe from Thursday at 7am through 7pm Friday (the snow prediction only goes out 48 hrs so right now I can't see past 7pm Friday -- there might be more snow after then). I think Friday will be a great day at Snowshoe, in fact I may throw my fat skis in the car just for the hell of it. I am thinking maybe I should drive up Thursday night rather than early Friday morning, but I need to see how my day goes tomorrow, and then see if there are any good lodging deals. It would be better than getting up at 4am Friday morning and slogging through snow on the mountain roads.

Unfortunately, Friday will be cold and windy -- high about 17F, with wind chill 0F to -5F. Brrr!

This is insane... I just checked the NWS Forecast for Canaan Valley and if you add up the snow totals (which seems to be a safe assumption so far this season) they are calling for up to 2' FEET of new snow by Friday afternoon!

The timing couldn't be better: the ground is now just firming up thanks to our super cold nights. As it turns out, pretty much any new snow will be like a dream - a skiiable dream on a very good base.

So now, I can actually say: let it snow!
