You guys are quick. Will Smith is correct. The film star action hero was caught in disorganized gear grappling gaper mode in above photo grin

Here is an action shot and maybe this one will be a little tougher to identify??

Correct, those are the royal newlyweds. They are in LA right now, maybe they will come back sometime and ski in the US?

You got it, Gordon Sumner (aka Sting).

Here's a two-fer. Can you identify skiing celebs G and H in this photo? It's a neat picture because you get a good close-up view of ski gear from 1964. Major bonus points if you can identify what brand of skis, bindings and boots they are using!

Bobby Kennedy and his nephew John Kennedy, Jr. Don't know anything about skis as I am a knuckle-dragger! BTW, I think the Kennedy's know a little about skiing accidents. (:^O)>>>

Are those the ones that clipped in on the sides on the bottom of the boot?

Yes, but I don't believe Spademans were in wide use in 1964, so John Jr's bindings are not Spademans. They look like the old bear trap type, but I could be wrong. RFK appears to be using Marker bindings. Fischer ski logo can be seen on John Jr's ski tips, esp left. He's got lace-up boots, RFK's boots have metal buckles which were a relatively new innovation at the time. RFK clearly has superior equipment to the boy. Wouldn't be surprised if he was on Head skis? John Jr could be on rental gear? Although his boots look big for a toddler, he might be on hand-me-downs? Which RFK had plenty of, he and Ethel had something like 11 kids. grin
Caption with this photo said Ajax (Aspen), Dec 31, 1964. John Jr would have been 4 yrs old.

You guys are good. The only one I would have gotten was RFK; kind of easy. I am not much aware of popular culture and haven't even watched network TV for 10 yrs., other than baseball, football, hockey, and of course skiing if I can.

Here's one more in line with Denis' off-piste tastes and a suitable follow-up to the RFK references whistle

Gotta admire her willingness to expose that much skin to the harshness of a fall on sand.

I wonder if Marilyn Monroe ever did any real skiing? Another photo from this session shows more clearly that she is wearing sandals and her feet aren't clipped into the ski binding.

excerpt from Candle in the Wind
Music: Elton John
Lyrics: Bernie Taupin

Goodbye Norma Jean
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While those around you crawled
They crawled out of the woodwork
And they whispered into your brain
They set you on the treadmill
And they made you change your name

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
When the rain set in
And I would have liked to have known you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
Your legend ever did

Several of the old Warren Miller films show her skiing and riding up a rope tow. She was fairly good.
