Get out and make a difference, vote today.
I heading to the polls right now. It is the cool thing to do these days...
Making snow Can be a Calculated Risk Anytime In November
I voted in Fairfax, VA at 11:00. Took 15 minutes from parking to driving out of the parking lot.
The Colonel
GO VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!! Whether you are for McBama or Ocain!!
Went to my polling place at 9:15AM and voted in 5 minutes! Voting at the same time and place took one hour in 2004... My precinct in Virginia has moved back to paper ballots (scanner, no hanging chad), and apparently that has sped up the process immensely. Paper is faster than computers, go figure.
They weren't handing out those stickers.
Fishnski - you did not think I would let you get away with a partisan comment for a non-partisan subject...did you? This is a tough name.

Bye, bye my friends!
Not bad Snowsmith...could have been better though
...In the spirit of this new change That looks to be coming, Can we have Joe the snowmaker at Wisp share some of his Snow with Timberline?
Sounds like snowcialism to me!
The storm has been raging now since this morning and could be an avalanche. BLUE Knob will easily surpass the 270 inch mark, and the forecasts are that it could easily reach 330. Obviously, we would all be delighted with 400.
At least 58 senators will be skiing and frolicking in the Upper Lodge. We're looking at the possibility of even 60. And maybe even 40 new Blue people in the Lower Lodge.
Now that's change we can have...
Sounds like snowcialism to me!
Yes, "Re-distribution" of snow is something we may all agree with. Since we're often on the short end of the snow stake.
Vote today!...Wish some of you would vote tomorrow
.....It ain't over till the fat lady in those tight ski pants sings!
changed my mind.
don't want to jump in here.
Snowsmith,
I give you the prize for the best line in this thread:
"snowcialism".
Free and fast thinking remains alive no matter who or what!
The Colonel
Thank you Colonel!
Think of those poor snow deprived folks in Florida. I propose to transfer snow from states with average snow fall over 150" to Florida and other pow deprived areas. We need to try to equalize the snow quotient for lower pow citizens. There are just too many upper pow folks in Colarado, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Vermont and California. We Mid-Atlantic folks are not even middle pow folks. We have to survive on snow welfare (making). We really would like to pull ourselves up by our own boot power straps, but we just don't have the pow to do it.
Support my candidacy and I'll make sure that all of you have pow equality.
My name is Snowsmith and I approved the contents of this post.
Agree. One thing Utah doesn't need is more powder. Let's tax their snow resources and get tons of snow up in WV. Snow is a birthright!
I'm almost with you Snowsmith except for the ..share snow with Florida thing. If they want to live in the flatest & most southern state next to ....? Then let them be Snow starved!!!!Let them sit in their Florida Rooms with palms in every window & just Drool at Snow shots on TV!...Now, Make them uppity rich snow folks in the Rockies & out in the Cascades & sierras send some our way...I'd like to cash in some "Snow Stamps" At Timberline & Canaan Valley Ski Areas!

I didn't move all the way out from the rain-prone Mid Atlantic to the table-flat vistas of Kansas just for y'all snowcialists to redistribute the beautiful snow out west. YOU CAN TAKE MY SNOW FROM MY COLD, DEAD, BLUE, GLOVE-COVERED HANDS!!!
Lines were modest at my polling place today. I got two free cups of Starbucks coffee (there is at least ONE thing I'll do more than once when it comes to voting- drink free coffee). I was so absolutely pumped about the free coffee- particularly with all that caffeine running around in my bloodstream- that I found myself hoping that the election would come out in a perfect tie (269-269 electoral, exact match on actual votes) JUST SO WE COULD HAVE MORE FREE COFFEE!!!!!
If they offer free whiskey next time, I will hope that the election never, ever, ever ends.
Been Waitin for ya Roger!!...Latest poll #'s from the fishnski household....100% McCain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well since I'm a household of one I can guarantee you I went 100% for my candidate too- BUCK E. WYLD!!!
Bernie Sanders! From a real snow state, a true snowcialist!
I'm a Red, White & feeling Blue American this Morn but Obama's the Man..This is a great moment in American History ..He will be our next pres & I'm sure everyone at DCSki wishes Barack Obama & Family the best along with McCain & Crew. Get our Country back togethr & Get-R-Done Obama!...& one other thing....Mitt Romney/ Sara Palin 2012!!
The Muslim Fanatics are thinking that this must be a CIA Master plan to get them off the US's Back....How Can we Bomb our Brother..Barack Hussain Obama!!???...Them Damb Americans have taken all the fun out of it
You were doing well untill you went into the second paragraph. Obama is not Muslim and never has been. Next time, think before you write something ridiculous like this. The notion that somehow there thinking of attacking us just because McCain wasn't elected has been mentioned by some redneck friends of mine. Let's keep it off this website.
You got Redneck friends??...Come on Mr Smith..20 years at rev Wrights Cristian church of course means he isn't Muslim...Duhhh! Its his name...his father was a muslim & gave him a muslim or Arab name....it was just a joke about the terrorists...you are way to serious...you sure you got redneck Friends?

I think he was making fun of the Muslim fanatics, not Barack.
BTW, Don't forget to get your T-shirts before the sell out!!!
These may be hard to get before too long......
Snowsmith, Did you just call Vice-President elect Biden a Redneck?? Everybody knows he's from Scranton and all the Rednecks are from WPA don't you watch the news??
I'm Done.
I started this thread after I returned from the polls. I arrived there a few minutes before the polls opened at 7. I spent the day driving a car to my daughter who is enrolled in college on Long Island. I spent a few hours visiting and rode home with her boyfriend who was already there visiting. When we got home almost 7 hours later I got out of the car to a changed nation. I got word via cell phone as my wife called to keep me informed.
What a great day for these United States. For those that doubted American democracy, Obama is living proof in the power of people to overcome doubt and embrace change in a peaceful manner.
God Bless America and forever keep her united in freedom's purpose.
Snowsmith...the election is over, Obama won....I do not think fishnski remark partison, more tongue in cheek. Give him a break! Overreaction is not a good thing either.
The Colonel
Perhaps I took it the wrong way however I read little hidden nuances in that post. I come to this Board to get away from politics and reality and I am easily drawn into the politics when some can't seem to keep their political opinions to themselves.... For which I am sometimes guilty. I don't realy give pile of yak dung what the political opinions of the ski enthusiasts on this web site are and I suspect they feel the same about mine. So why do certain people keep interjecting their politics into every subject which I and most of us really don't care to hear about.
My final complaint and comment on this subject....
I definitely voted. I voted for freedom, strong military support, and bringing hockey back to our national stage. Unfortunately what was left was an unamerican outlook on planned socialism leading up to possible communism.
Now if I can just find a way to keep from paying taxes to ensure my hard earned dollars from going into the pockets of those who don't work, don't pay taxes, and expect my money to spread my wealth around. It's my wealth and it's mine for the keeping.
If ya can't earn it, don't whine.
Well, that election's done... let's get 2012 started!!!
(but, I mean, seriously- Chip Chase/Willie Nelson 2012. Slogan: "A Free Heel with All That Pot" Who's with me? Huh? HUH!?!? )

Got my vote. Also, let me know what I can do as far as campaigning. I think you are on to something here....
I definitely voted. I voted for freedom, strong military support, and bringing hockey back to our national stage.
We voted for the same thing... But somehow I think we voted for different people.
Now the task at hand is to get the new administration on skis in a fair and equitable manner. Who knows, I may have to share my new Volkls... :-)
Nobody here gets it do they???? It really doesn't doesn't matter who got elected. Big business will still pull the strings of whatever puppet is on stage, and they don't give a rat's a$$ who knows cuz they will still make profits off everyone of us, so we should just revell in the next big pow pow dump knowing it 's gonna cost a whole lot less to get to the mountain with $2/gal gas instead of $4/gal gas and drink winter beer apres.
Nuff said!
Lets just hope that gas stays at this price!!!!!!!!!
I would really hate to see it jump back up when the 1st flakes fly!!!!!!!!!!
I may be over 50, but I one thing I won't do is fall pray to cynicism. I've lived too long for that. I still believe that optimism and the belief that dedicated people can effect beneficial change, can indeed and will change the world. As the noted anthropologist Margaret Mead stated, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has".
Obviously, a company has a right to profits, don't they? And that doesn't take from the fact that we will indeed have fun on the slopes. Whether gas is a $2 or $4.
Snowcialism Muerte! Venceremos!
Now your talking. Let's mix snowcialism and pot. How about "Pot in every chicken and rolling papers at every lift"
Willi's on the road again.

That's already a reality... It's called Mad River Glen....
Aw, Lou. You are taking all the fun out of it. I'm over 50 too but also am a realist in the world of economic law and business. Although we probably didn't touch the same buttons on Tuesday it'll be difficult for Mr. Obama or had it been Mr. McCain to wave their magic wands and things to all be better. When it comes to our elected leadership, I support their efforts unless it causes hardships for our citizens. THAT'S why our country voted the way it did this time around. Now the party in control has no excuses, they have to produce. otherwise the vote will go the opposite way in four years. Our government didn't cause our economic problems, our greedy businesses did and look where it got them. Maybe the government has been tanking too many billions overseas, but that will change. Let's just be thankful that here in the US we do things peacefully without military involvement as is not the case in many of the countries around the world. Think BIG SNOW!

Yee-haw! I've done that easy rider thing as well in my younger years. Glad they're over!
No argument, kwill.... This was a historic election for many reasons. For me, having seen and been in the Civil Rights movement and having been involved in human rights overseas, it was a watershed. Seeing the people take to the streets two nights ago on 14th and U and all over the DC area, I had a lump in my throat. It was everyone - black, white, asian, east asian, whatever. It was hope, joy, change, renewal and ecstasy in the faces of Americans. The difficult thing revolves around expectations both here and abroad, and how to meet them.
And the greedy businesses who caused some of the hurtful conditions are still laughing as we gutted the regulatory structures and they'll never suffer for it.
My expectation related to this forum is more snow, colder weather and better grooming. Did he promise that too?

Just curious, who are these greedy businesses who are laughing?

HMMMMMMMMm...I just put you on the Obama Bandwagon on the Colonols poll Based on some earlier posts of yours..Maybe you were just Bush bashing. If you pushed a different button than Ibotta you would have had to voted for McCain.
Been thru at least 4 attempted or successful military takeovers while growing up overseas...saw the tanks...watched the yellow flames shooting out of the fighter jets guns...fun stuff!
Yehhh..The tears of Joy & the celebrating are allready giving way to reality...Change won't take a few months, or a year...maybe not the 1st term...probably take 2 terms... We probably will not be able to do what we promised you to get your vote because of the economy....BUTTTTT...We will get there...He promises that we will get there...we should believe it!!...The tears are coming back
Thank all of you for taking the time to make this American democracy work. In the long run what is important is we participate in this most basic process that requires so little of our time, this process that defines our freedom.
In the coming years it is my hope that partisanship will wane and a new spirit of cooperation takes hold. We need each other and diverse ideas to meet the challenges that face us, this economy being priority one.
It is also my hope that the politics of fear and division not rear its head any time soon. To hope it is forever banished is too idealistic even for me.
Take pride in our system of government and remember that for us there really is only this United States of America.
