Okay, here's the deal. At work, we got a surprise extra day of vacation this year. We have a choice between taking the day after Christmas off, or the day after New Year's off.

Now, a little background to what I'm about to say. I will have just returned from El Salvador and my wedding, where I will have spent time with the family. On top of that, I haven't seen a mountain since March (not even this summer).

For those two overwhelming reasons, I want to do a four day ski run to CO over New Year's, and spend Christmas alone, I guess. Whatever. There's snow to be had.

Here's the layout, in a nutshell: Monarch, CO. Ski Thurs-Sat, stay four nights somewhere in Salida or Poncha Springs, somewhere cheap, which during the holidays isn't all that cheap. I'd love to road trip with someone from KC, but can also rendezvous at Denver if you'd prefer to fly.
