Here is a quick report of the planned trip mentioned in another thread.
http://list.uvm.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind0805D&L=SKIVT-L&D=1&T=0&O=D&P=86118

We got there at the crack of 2 (PM, that is). The predicted high for the day was 36 and I was afraid it would not soften up. I have been there on warmer days when it didn't, but it turned out to be just about perfect.

There is still lots of snow and people were also skiing the left gully in Tuckerman Ravine and the Great Gulf. With any luck it will last 2-4 weeks longer.

Looks great! So how long of a run can you get at the snowfields?

Right now it's about 700' vertical at an average pitch of ~ 30 and steepest section (middle) ~ 35. There is still plenty of snow there; it should last another 2-4 weeks. The summit snowfields are very accessible. You go to the last pullout before the summit on the auto rd. and walk southeast about 100 feet on the rocks. (The snow cannot be seen from either the road or the pullout.) It is a great experience with great views, skiing that is sanely steep (as opposed to Tuckerman), and the climb back up is not too bad. Hope I talked some of you into trying it. \:\)

I would like to try that someday, sounds like a more reasonable way to get some turns in on Mt. Washington if I don't have time for a full-on hike in and out.

Hey Denis, you want to adopt me as a son? I think I'd have a bit more adventure in my life. Kudos on the report and on keeping at it.

Langley,
Where have you been. We have missed hearing from you.
By the way...what is a two-third friend?

I found the URL directly to the image (right-click on it). The other URLs point to a script on that list-server, and don't work in image tags.
