I'm feeling punky! I was so proud when I got over 50 posts and became a "senior". Then I noticed that curih had 7 posts and 5 stars!

I want some stars!

Is it just not cool to want stars?

If you go into a persons profile you can rate them (1 - 5 stars). You can only give stars to others, not yourself. If Mountain Masher was still here, he would them take them away from you (like he always did to me) when you didn't agree that the world was coming to an end, and that Blue Knob was run by the Anti-Christ.

Ullr, I just gave you a five star but couldn't undo MM's work.

He's up to 4 now \:\)

Unless he's a Wings fan, then I'm taking it back, lmao.

Yeah but once you give them, there's no way to take them back. I have to say that I find the feature a bit useless.

I have never given anything other than a "5" in the 9 years I've been on this site. And over the past two years, I've made it a point to go in and do a "5" for every newcomer.

Ulr is totally correct. Unfortunately there are folks who use this feature as their little way to put down those who disagree with them. That's their problem as well as a demonstration of their own immaturity, but as a result, it cheapens the feature.

There are a few of us who have endeavored to correct this and as a result, you should have seen a marked improvement on literally everyone's star "rating". But it has taken a lot of "5"s to overcome some of the puerile vitriol on the site.

Oh, if he's a wings fan (which he's not) I would create ways to take them back \:\)

Thanks Lou. I was wondering who I owed for getting my rating back up to 5 stars. It was knocked down to 3 after a round with ol' double M a few years ago.

Or maybe Masher's votes were thrown out after he was banned (or whatever led to him not being around).

Wings fan? No, not me. I know you like the Pens, now all I have to do is get you on the Steelers bandwagon!

I always thought that rating users was kinda pointless. As Ibotta said, it can be used as a put down but I'm with Matt on this, any Wings fans will get a 0 star from me and Rangers fan will get -5.

Well, I won't try to get you guys to decide: Chevies vs Fords.

5 Star Steve!

Chevies vs Fords

I told my wife that when we have kids, maybe one day our son might come home and declare he's gay. That's fine. Maybe we discover that he has a drug problem, we can intervene, that's okay. Maybe our kid gets in trouble with the law- obviously some discipline issues but I'll still welcome him back with open arms. Maybe our children will go on some hack-political crusade and think the Holocaust was a hoax or join some vegetable-rights movement and throw blood on me every time I mow the lawn. That's okay, we'll argue and I'll ground them, but I'll still love them.

But if our child shows up with a Chevy truck, then I have no child.

Go ahead, one star me. Deep in your hearts, you know I'm right.

5 stars from me. Not because of the Ford vs Chevy thing though (I am a Toyota guy). Just for the chuckle after getting a mental image of your child throwing blood on you because you are cutting the grass.

Ah, then you have some form of deep seeded affection for poor performance and low quality?

Sorta funny... He's never been "starred"... I will say that there is no way to tell who has "given" stars on a name and I conjecture that there were certainly a few people who used it as their way to put down others. Especially after the infamous "global warming" tete-a-tetes on the site...
