My wife and I are thinking of hitting Whitetail for some Valentine's day skiing/boarding. It is suposed to be around 50 that day. I was just wondering if any one had been there when it was that warm and how it was. Thanx in adavance for any info

If the sun is out, and it's 40 or warmer, be prepared for significant slush. If the temperature is near 50, slush will get a tint of pastiness to it. These are the days when WT's southern-ish exposure definitely doesn't pay off.

Thanx,

Do you think liberty would be a better bet?

Im thinking Monday might be ok -- figure pretty soft this week, then if it turns cold on Sunday it will freeze up and be icy. Sunday night they will groom it and it will hard the next day but not ice per se...

that's just a theory.

KevR I'm thinking of heading to WT for a four hour pass Mon morning-- bright and early, if you're gonna be there.

cjf- Liberty could be a better bet because it faces more northerly. It's really a matter of which way the trails face. I'd still bet on softer snow, but maybe not as pasty.

RZ, I am not sure yet. I would like to ski but have work conflicts, dag it!

Reminds me I have to go pick my skis up from the shop.

Anyway, I'll let ya know.

If not this weekend, next.

Next weekend is a definite. Full eight hours, crowds should be a little lower, and I'm heading to Tahoe the weekend after. Gotta keep working the moguls so I can be ready for KT22!.

Looks like Monday is a no go on my end. However, I am *probably* almost definitely taking a lesson on Friday at Roundtop, then could also ski saturday, maybe WT would be my pref.

After that, I will be out west on vacation. Tahoe? Heavenly?

I was thinking of staying on the north end of the Lake. I hear it's mellower up there. Just three days of skiing, all midweek, March 1-3. You out there the week of the 24th or the 1st?

Kevr-- if you are in Tahoe March 1-3, and you want to meet up at one of the resorts there, drop me an e-mail. Since it's midweek in March, don't think it'd be too much of a problem to scoot around the lake to meet up. Otherwise-- have a blast out there and we can compare notes when we get back!

That would be cool except I don't think I was very clear. I will be in UTAH for most of that time with a brief stint in Big Sky. I did go to Tahoe last year for 2 days while out in CA on business -- Heavenly. No, I'd say on your way back, stop in SLC... we are there through the 6th. Then I have to run up to the BS area, and I *might* ski a day or something if I can still walk.

That's cool! Already was in Utah in January. Skied out all the fresh powder so enjoy what I left for ya. I'm visiting family and friends in SF and, since they work midweek, thought I'd take a few days in the week to do some skiing in Tahoe. Free plane ticket, spending most of the nights at buddies' places; this will probably be cheaper than your Hun-tuh trip! Well, probably not...

Well probably it WILL be. I flew Southwest out of san jose and then took the bus from Reno to southlake (see bus company at luggage area of air port). I stayed at the older "locals" casino and inn (can't quite rememeer the name), then skied heavenly and ate cheap prime rib for din-din!

I enjoyed heavenly but they needed a freshen up in snow while I was there which was Jan last year.

We are paying $90 each per night to ski in SLC. that includes lodging, lift and a "light dinner+breakfast". We are staying IN TOWN however. So it will be a drive or bus up in the AM.

We will see how this works out. I have stayed now in condos near a lift, within short walk, in a house a few miles away, in a hotel-like condo at the base of a mountain off the main road, and now this is a SUITE hotel. Of course slopeside is vastly better in most ways but I refuse to pay $50000000 dollar for it. So maybe I will get suckered once to stay in huntah by the lifts but i learned my lesson! ... I think.

;-)

Okay back to the subject of the board for a minute... did anyone ski/board Whitetail today (Saturday)? Any opinion on the conditions? Anyone going tomorrow?
