Was Silver Creek Resort ever a stand alone resort? Could some one point me to the history of the place?

Yes, Silver Creek was once stand-alone. I think it came into existence around the 84 or 85 ski season. They once had plans to continue expanding along the ridge to the west, one thing I read said that their vertical would someday be 1,200 feet. I've looked at the topos, not sure how they would have ever had that kind of vertical, so I think that was just a mis-statement. But they definitely have room for further expansion, if Snowshoe ever wants to expand it.

Damn Jimmy, you are quite the historian....I never knew...do you know by chance what the long waiting history is behind getting served a beer at Timbers during ski season????

Please, oldensign, forgive me.

Well, I had to go back to the beginning of history, almost, for the answers to you question Tucker. You see, just after global warming killed the last dinosoars and right before the pistenboullie era, all of the skiers of the day were off piste. Being an off piste skier (riders hadn't bin invented yet) as you can imagine consumed gobs of energy. After a day of off piste skiing, the skiers would drag themselves u p t h e s t e p s t o t h e t i m b e r s p u b and plop down at a seat at the bar, order a beer but fall asleep before the barkeep could bring it to them because they'd been off piste all day.........sooooooo, my young friend, i'm not perfectly clear on this, but i suspect the tradition of the long waiting period b/4 the service of beer at timbers is to make sure the skier is piste off and not off piste because serving the off piste skier is just a waste of beer .

Yes, I was right you are quite the historian...

an idea...I wonder,,, since we have yet to test the beer remote(or even to see the protocal), I wonder if we should attempt some kind of divisible, fractional if you will, approach...how about two or three of us go in on a pitcher and see if we can get beer faster that way....

Ahhhh! Yes, now it makes sence. Only the guru, the all knowing one, the creator of the UNTOPIC would know the truth. Me thinks Tucker has a novel idea as to how this can work and Me thinks it should be attempted...but, only not in the presence of children. Timbers won't know how the on piste/ off pisters figured it out. If available, I would be honored to assist in Tuckers stated fractional/divisable approach. I'll even offer to absorb the expense!

I remember going to silver creek in 85 or 86 and it was a separate resort. I remember very little about the actual skiing, but there where at least 8 of us who went on the trip. I remember more about the girls
