ski vs snowboards

Hi, It seems like Snowshoe has more snowboarders than skiers, but Wisp there is more skiers than snowboarders. Has anyone else notice this at different resorts. Also. Was at Wisp Saturday and saw one guy with ski bindings mounted to a snowboard.

Assuming the bindings were mounted parallel to the long axis of the board, what you saw was probably a monoski. I have seen these in the past at the Utah resorts. Especially useful at Alta where snowboards are not allowed and where the powder is deep. It is not ridden like a snowboard but as a single ski.

I saw some dude skiing some fairly steep moguls on a mono-ski off the Supreme lift at Alta. I'm pretty sure that's most impressive display of skiing ability I've ever seen in person.

you should see it out in southern CA. i was outnumbered by snowboarders at Mt. High (outside of LA) almost 10 to 1!!!
