Be very, very careful about sellers' claims on Craigslist/Ebay.

Todays utterly unsafe gem.

My apologies, Scott, if this somehow violates the terms of website use. I just HAD to say something somewhere.

What is wrong with selling skis from the 1980's? The bindings are not up to current standards, but that equipment could be skied.

Nothing is wrong with selling it if the ad states that the ski is an adult ski from the 1970s and that the binding is long since obsolete for very good reasons.

What is wrong is misrepresentation, either deliberate or through inventive ignorance. "I don't know about skis" doesn't wash here, because an assertion was made about their fitness for use.

"Very good condition, great for kids."

Nice find there. Those should be sold for firewood or maybe they can melt them down and turn them into those puke colored picnic tables.

Not for firewood! I am sure some yuppie would just luv those for local color decor for their condo at where-ever. People pay bundles for fake decorative skis, why not the real thing? Actually I am pretty sure I saw those same skis on a wall for 'rustic' atmosphere in a condo at Tahoe.

Mark III sellers are apparently much more reasonable.

C'mon! You must've seen the Adirondak chairs made out of old skis, no?
