Ski Chalet demo & swap days
October 15, 2006
I got a flyer in mail today about Dilly in Chantilly sale 9/29-10/2, but it also mentioned Ski Chalet demo days set for Wisp ($10) on 1/13 and Timberline ($2) on 1/18 and
Ski Swap schedule: Arlington, 10/15, Whitetail Patrol; Gaithersburg 10/28&29, Wisp Patrol; Chantilly 11/11&12 Canaan Patrol.
I talked to a buddy who works there (and has for almost 10 years) and he said that this year's sale should be as good if not better than previous sales - more selection, more product, and better prices.
Hopefully Ski chalet is back to full strength!
The flyer made it sound like they are pulling in gear for the sale from an extended number of stores that the new parent company now controls. Does that make sense?

CORRECTION: the Wisp demo day is Thursday, Jan 11.
I will take advantage of the swap meet today, October 15, to get a Snow Blast token from the Whitetail representatives.
Hi twin58, I was there, but didn't know about token. What's that and snow blast about? I talked to a bunch of Whitetail patrollers, but none mentioned it.
PS: Got some good clothes including a goretex jacket for one of my kids. Pickins were slim for used skis.
The Snow Blast token is a plastic card about 1" by 2" with a sixteen-digit number on the back. You get them only at shows and swap meets before the season opens. You then go the one of the resorts' websites and enter the number and the other information they ask for. With that done, you are enrolled in the Snow Blast program.
Every Monday during the season, you'll get an email message telling you what the special offer will be for the upcoming week. Some of them aren't much good - free extra large soft drink with every meal - but others are along the lines of half-price lift tickets.
Since enrollment costs nothing, it's worth it.
I finally got to the swap meet, by way of my always reliable bicycle. It was far smaller than those of previous years. They were packing up when I got there.
