The link above is to a Accuweather story about the possible return of El Nino. The story indicates that a weak El Nino could produce a cold and stormy winter in the east!!

I posted this some time ago and no one responded. The new post asks the question "What's it going to be? Snow or no snow". Well if the weak El Nino is happening then it looks good for the Northeast.

Actually, it's now starting to look like it's going to be a moderate El Nino event this Winter. Although weak El Ninos usually bring lots of cold weather and snow to the mid-Atlantic (like the epic ski-season of 77-78), moderate El Nino events often result in slightly milder than normal temps and less than normal snowfall. Provided that this El Nino stays within the moderate range, the coming Winter should be close to average in terms of temp and precip. But, lets hope that the current El Nino doesn't increase in strength; nearly all strong El Nino events have resulted in mild Winters like the Winters of 97-98 and 82-83 (although DC got hit with a 3 foot snow-storm in late Winter 83).
