O.K. moved to DC last year, didn't get a chance to get out last winter. All the resorts should be open this weekend. Where is everyone going?

The wife and I are planning on heading up to Whitetail this Sunday. Got a new board over the summer and it has been killing me to just see it sitting there taunting me

Wintergreen - they picked up about 5 inches yesterday, and the conditions should stay relatively cold all week. They're blowing snow on lots of slopes, and should open up the Highlands - yea! Plus, my son has try-outs for the WTG ski team...

7 Springs Sat and Sun, assuming that my youngest daughter recovers from strep. Also hoping that more terrain will be open on the North Face side.

Wisp, 47 lift tix and new terrain opening, you bet your a I'm going. Haven't been there since somewhere around 2000 and that was night skiing so I'm looking forward to it during the day.

Wisp for sure - most terrain open and low, low ticket price! May stay for Monday as well, since it's "free". Camera's show snomaking on Main Street, too, so looks like they're aiming for the full mountain to be open! Yahoooooo!

Wisp Saturday and Sunday. I may drive up early Saturday AM, depending upon the status of any late-week snow event and Friday Happy Hour plans. Wisp will open the lifts at 9 AM on Saturday?

I'm going to Wisp on Sunday 12/11 with a couple car loads of kids. Perhaps we can do a DCSki meet and greet at noon followed by a few or a lot of runs together (while the masses are at lunch ), depending on everyone's schedules? Want to meet at the base of terrain park in front of lodge at bottom of The Face trail?

Here's a trip report I filed three years ago on the Wisp Birthday celebration: http://www.dcski.com/articles/view_article.php?article_id=388&mode=headlines Never did I have a local ski day that good, that cheap, that early!

I almost hesitate to tout how great it was for fear of bigger crowds this time, but key is whether they have Mainstreet and/or the new area open on backside. If backside of mtn is open it will disperse crowds real well and the easy black diamond Mainstreet trail&chair never seems to get too crowded no matter what.

Classes are finishing up... friends and I are making plans to start hitting places midweek next week. No lines cheap tickets, and free beer when you ski midweek, ya know.

I likewise have a whole house full - about a dozen high schoolers and a couple of parents. Should be fun, though I certainly won't get a turn in the hot tub . I don't expect crowds to be too much of a problem, though: barring a complete change in the forecast or malfunction in the new pumps or pipes, the expansion is certain to be open. Actually, I'd bet on the entire area being open given the way the guns are going right now

I think a "meet and greet" would be fun! Base of the Face, below the Park at 12:30? We could do a full mountain tour, which will take a couple of hours....

That sounds like a good plan. (Maybe we can also try it for those who'll be there on Saturday.)

For last year's T-Line March get-together, we learned that it's pretty much impossible to try to remember people's clothing/equipment/etc. to try to meet them. Lapel pins or buttons are not really visible either, unless you happen to be standing next to someone. A meeting time and spot worked well. Bottom of the mountain works better, since it's a lot less wind. It's best to not make the time too early since someone is always delayed heading out to the slopes.

Following up on what JohnL said, the best meeting place at a ski resort seems to be the top lift station of a designated lift. At Timberline, we met at the top of Thunderdraft. I won't be at Wisp (I'm sad to say), but you folks should pick a top station of one of the lifts there for the meeting spot.

You guys crack me up "lets do a meet and greet" come on!

"oh Buffy, did you bring the cheese spread to go with the pate?"

All my friends ever said was "meet us at noon in the back corner of the parking lot behind the dumpsters and have some beers and burn one!"

OK - it was a lame phrase. I was going to type "ski and pee" or "pow and chow" or "smash and thrash" or whatever, but it just didn't come out that way. In any case, I don't want no cheese spread - just thought it'd be social to say Hi in person, given the chance.

I will pass on meeting behind the dumpster, though - if I want to drink, I can think of much better places than that

Madeline and I will be at 7S this weekend Saturday and Sunday, pending doing my laundry on a week night. I noticed a few others will be there and I am sure a few regulars will be arround.

I propose meeting up Saturday at the top of North Face Lift 10:30 AM on the side near the Tahoe Lodge. I don't really know what I will be wearing (see pending laundry), but I will prbabbly be on my Volkl T50s if that helps. --Tim

Count me in for Wisp on Saturday. Heck if anyone has the 2-ways, should we set for a designated channel to 'round em up when meeting time nears?

Solid call on the 2 ways I'll have mine. May I suggest
11-17 I'll be around all day Saturday but Sunday I may be gone by noon. Gotta visit the 'rents in law Sunday afternoon. Wisp is looking really nice. I'm hoping the significantly better half does okay. I think ahe's more used to Snowshoes wider trails so hopefully this works out okay for her.

Wisp has the special deal. Other than that, does any local area have early season pricing? I believe Massanutten used to. WT is regular mid-season pricing, right?
