Killington Resort will open Saturday with skiing and riding on 12 trails! We had the snowguns fired up all night to compliment more than three feet of new snow atop Killington Peak since Sunday.

If Wildcat opened today, it looks like the Big K may have lost their claim to fame of being the first ones opened (and the last one to close)! Good for a little market competition!

Killington won't open this week

November 2, 2005

Killington Ski Resort will not be open this weekend for skiing and snowboarding as temperatures have warmed up and snow from last week's nor'easter has started to melt.

The slopes at the resort opened for rare pre-Halloween skiing for a few thousand people last weekend, thanks to more than 20 inches of snow that fell through week.

However, warmer weather this week has led resort officials to call off skiing on Killington slopes this weekend. Much colder temperatures are needed for the resort's snowmaking machine to start working, a spokesman said.

Horrocks said the resort will re-open as soon as the temperatures allow.
