Not so fast on the end of the season. Snowshoe just announced the extension of their season until April 10th. With 10 feet of snow in three weeks and more this weekend, and temps maintaining below freezing, they will have snow in the slopes till May.

I just returned from a 3-week stint at the Shoe. I am still amazed at that much snow... actually, GOOD-quality snow, perched on the mountain. Amazingly, even down past Seneca Rocks, there isn't much in the mountains. However, once past Circleville in the headwaters of the Potomac's South Fork, the snow just hangs by the ton.

I don't know if I have another Snowshoe trip in me though. 7 Springs this weekend and if Whitetail can hang another week that could be it for me.

Speaking of WT the rumor is that they are not closing this weekend although they did contemplate it but it could be very much a spur of the moment thing for them so keep your eyes and ears peeled and check before you go because they could close in a heartbeat from the sounds of things.

Which way did you read that... as in I have a cabin and will be there or if you have a cabin I'd be there? lol I just now thought maybe I was a little too underdescriptive.

Kennedy,

WT is definitely open through 3/20. Both WT and Liberty are targeting to close on 3/20, but one may stay open through 3/27 depending on forecasted attendance. There is definitely enough snow to stay open.

Brad,
I thought you had a cabin and wanted to know if I needed a place to stay. I've been so confused this week. They're wondering about mountain bike conditions at t-line over on the the bikeing board??? CONDITIONS ARE PACKED POWDER ON A BASE OF 38-64" so what kind of snow tires you run on your mountain bike, anyway?

Here's the Liberty update......

We will be open through this Sunday (March, 20th) with normal operating hours (that means until 10pm). We will be closed next Monday thru Thursday (the 21st - 24th). On Wednesday of that week (the 23rd), we will determine whether or not we will be open on Friday and Saturday of that week (the 25th and 26th). Saturday would then be the official last day of the season. We will not be open on Easter Sunday.

Why would we reopen for 2 days? The snow is plentiful, and as evidenced by our weekend business, people still want to ski and snowboard - simple as that!

~What will determine whether or not we open? In a word - the weather
