All I remember from early january was chicken little and eyore whining about what a bad season this could be.
. So how's it going. I checked my ledger compared to last year and I'm about the same, only one day behind as of 2/28.
Are you ahead, about the same, or behind last year.
The crowds seem about normal where I've skied this year. First day was 10 days later. Looks like the season could go thru 3/20, Easter holiday may kill last of March.
Do you think skier visits are up or down?
I've got 16 solid ski days in this season with the first 4 days in completely miserable conditions. the best runs of the season have been the past 2 weekends and I expect to get two more solid all days in this weekend at CVR. I should be able to squeeze in at least 2 or 3 more spring ski days in mid to late March assuming no major rain in the crystal ball. All in all...this unseasonable mild winter worked out to be a great late bloomer!!
Jimmy,
Well, let's see... So far I have 18 days. I'm skiing in Utah this Thursday - Saturday
(3 more). I'm in Whistler for 7 more ski days. If I hit a couple of more days locally, I'll hit 30

I am up to 54 so far i will finish out the year somewere in the 70 still 30 days behind my last 2 seasons.
And here I am with a whopping 4 days. lol
I've logged 22 days in the states and six in Austria....that makes it close to my seasonal average as of late. I used to get in at least 12 or more in December, but not this year.
Warren, where you plan to ski in UT? I've got 5 days there starting 3/8
.
Brad, Ya want me ta have a lil talk wit yer boss
, tell im how hard ya bin werkin and mebbe you need a brake?
jimmy
Jimmy,
Unfortunately, I'll already be home when you get there. I'm going there Thursday - Sunday. We're going to Brighton on Thursday (they sell a twilight ticket 12:30 - 21:00 or something like that). I think we're doing Snowbird on Friday and Solitude on Saturday. Sunday is just a check-out, shopping and fly home day.

Only 14 so far; 8 locally and 6 in Utah. I would've had a lot, lot more if the early season in the East wasn't so bad and if I didn't have the flu for over two weeks.
But coming up I've got 3+ days locally, 6-7 days in Utah, and 4 days TBD, so I'll get in my required 25-30 days for the season. I always aim for 40 days, but I never seem to reach that.
Brad,
All work and no play....

I have only a lowly 12 days of skiing under my belt this season. After this weekend, and IF I can get one more weekend in I should get up to 16.
*sigh* if ONLY I had more time and money. I just started a new job in October, and had to get into negative vacation hours to go to Quebec in January. I JUST made it back to the plus side this month.
15 and counting:
4 Summit Cty; 7 Steamboat; 2 7S; 1 Laurel mtn & 1 Roundtop. Looking into a Vermont weekend in a couple of weeks.
Well I'm still aiming for my 5th day this year this Saturday at Timberline (maybe even pulling a 4:30-8pm at Canaan afterwards) that is if I can get my Explorer working. The battery died yesterday during the snow. I get the feeling something is telling me to hurry up on finding and purchasing another vehicle.
You know I'm ruthless at car shopping. I'll make car salesmen cry. lol
Lets see, 5 days UT, 8 Snowshoe, 5 Whitetail, 1 Liberty, 1 Wisp, so far for 20 days. Leaving Thurs for another 4 days at SS and hopefully we can continue skiing locally until the end of March; another 5-7 days. So I guess 30-35 days or so isn't bad for such a poor season. AND .. so far the conditions have been wonderful. We normally do 2 trips out west but this year just couldn't make it .. gues we will have to make up the slack next year and do 3. Oh darn!
It'll be nice hopefully next year that I'll have enough income business wise that I can push projects back a bit or get them done so that I have a majority of Jan-Mar free and have enough income to just... go anywhere at anytime and sit in the middle of the slope until the powder comes.

Do you work at a ski resort or live near enough to one to ski every day? That's phenomenal. I did not think it was possible in this area. Anything over 20 for people who live in this region is a real achievement that demands a lot of personal sacrifices with respect to work, family, and friends.
I have 11 so far (6 Whitetail, 1 Liberty, 2 Sugarloaf, 1 Smuggs and 1 Sugarbush). This is right along average to last year (5 Tahoe, 4 Whitetail, 1 Snowshoe, 2 Sugarloaf as of this time last year).
Although, I have a long weekend in Denver coming up at the end of March! My friend out there has a season's pass and a couple tickets to give to friends (i.e. me!!!) at any of the Vail resorts. Which ones should I hit? I have two full days (Saturday and Sunday 3/26-27)
Re Vail resorts in CO: I would try a day at Vail and a day at Beaver Creek if that is convenient for you. I would think Beav would be a little less crowded, so that might be the one to hit on Saturday? They are close to each other. You'll be overwhelmed by both, they are huge. Is Breckenridge the other Vail resort? That would be good to hit if you wanted to stay a little closer to Denver; good town, but terrain not quite as renowned as other two.
Let's see....
So far:
3 at WhiteGrass
1 at Elk
7 at Whitetail
19 at Roundtop
plus 4 in Tahoe starting Saturday
Then I hope for at least another half dozen locally (WT/RT) depending on conditions and how long they stay open.
Also figure at least another day or two at Whitegrass.
Looks like I'll break 40 for the year...yippee!
Had 38 last year, about a dozen of those were WG or local bc days and xc touring with the girlfriend. Could've upped this year's bc/tour tally, but I'm too busy getting ready to head west instead of skiing the local woods this week. And we haven't had much decent snow this year for local xc touring, so that number is low (big fat zero), but it's allll good.
I have 27 days, which includes the day I broke my wrist snowboarding at Massanutten (2 weeks ago):(
Looks like you've got the award Bushwacker. 54 is pretty freakin' incredible! And you're talking about squeezing in another 30? Not sure how you manage it but congrats---
You know what they say...The biggest A#$ to work for is yourself. The Boss always seem to know when your goofing off.
I'm only up to 8 myself, hopefully 9 after this weekend.
I skied HV tuesday night, and then blue knob yesterday and HV that night i am now up to 56 and will be at 59 by sunday. This is light year for me last year i skied nearly everyday and racked up a 106days. i am right now i am not sure on 30 more but i am sure on 20 more. I am going to vermont for a week in 2 weeks, and have and will ski at HV friday though sunday till we close.
14 days so far with 9 to 11 more days planned. Just got back from 4 in Utah and am returning next Thursday for three more. Wisp this weekend and Aspen for a week starting April 5th. Bring it on!
40 days for me so far. Man I'm slacking!
40 days? Amazing!!
4 days 7S (or was it waterskiing?)
2 Wintergreen
4 Snowshoe
and 5 more Tahoe week after next. BTW, Tomimcmillar it appears your going to Tahoe next week so let us know how it was.
Thanks
Doug

John, You said a lot there! I worked 4 more days than i skied in January, my wife (yes, she skis) is getting tired of ski days being the highest priority and I've got non-skiing friends who'll just have to wait til april.
Managed to get in 23 days so far, only one of which was in miserable conditions. Will make 7 Springs Saturday, 5 days in Utah next week, Snowy Luau at Tline will be good for two, possibly 3 more. 23 in the bag and 8 or nine more put me right where I was last year. Next year though.....I think i'm shooting for 35.
I'm at about 25 also, but they weren't all quality days, and I won't finish as strongly as Jimmy. Still, it's been a good year. It's fun having a kid that races; gets me to the ski hill a lot more often, with fewer complaints from the non-skiing missus.
Nah - it's easy. Average 3 days/week since mid December. Of course it helps when you get paid to ski!!!
