I just returned from Europe where I had to use snow chains a lot. The European's have a new "quick release" style Y pattern chain that makes putting on and taking off these beasts fairly easy.

I want to get a pair of these for next season. Does anyone know of a US distributer. With them, I'm convinced I could get out of the CV even under deep snow conditions. I drove on mountain roads in a Golf with 6-12 inches of unplowed snow with these bad boys--very impressive performance.

They have 4 different types. One look similar to what you were using. But it is made of cable (not link chains.)
