According to this :
http://www.canaanresort.com/slopeconditions.html

They have a base of 39" - 51". Anyone have any clue why they only have 7 trails open ?

I'm planning on heading there this weekend on that cheap package anyway to help teach some people how to ski. I wasn't planning spending much time in moguls or steeps or anything.. but I was hoping to see some more runs opened so crowds aren't a problem.

Scroll down on that URL and you will see what trails are open. Timberline also opens this weekend, so if you want to ski some additional terrain, you might consider buying a half day ticket at T-line as well....

Yes... I saw the trail listing before. Basically there's 2 bunny slopes open and 1 trail under the chairlift open... which is broken down into 4 trails.

I'm just curious if they've been too lazy to groom the other runs or if there's not enough cover or what. I'm shocked more trails aren't open.

I suspect the snow amounts refer to snow on trails where snowmaking is taking place.
