Looks like there will be a proxy battle coming in December.

Not so surprising. I mean, when you begin your "Welcome to Winter" returning employee event with "We've made mistakes" or something to that effect (to begin your presentation!) you know there's some deep issues to be addressed.  Forget shareholders - people expect stock prices to vacillate and work in favor of a few.  One of the first things the article hit on was "stagnant guest experience," which rings true.

I don't typically care if things aren't absolutely perfect at any given ski area, but you can't continue to just milk the areas you've purchased without putting much back in.

It doesn't stop at the resorts proper: get off of the "self-serve" purchasing and booking and whatever - route the calls, chats, and whatever else to human beings, preferably (ultimately) in the the area in which you're operating.  That's essentially their mistake.  You can only go so far with a name.  You need to be present.

All that said, I wish them well, and I'm glad they operate in western PA to serve my skiing addiction, but yeah, need change there.
