I just looked at their trail report and was surprised to see so little open. In another post I was talking about how an early cold spell like this can mean trouble, because if it warms up a lot, they lose all that snow making. I think it's a risk to over extend this early in the season. My guess is that they are building up the base on their core trails, so that those trails will make it through anything. If this cold spell started today and lasted the same number of days that we've had already, it seems to me every place would be fully open.

Hello friends. I last went to the Shoe about 15 years ago. Since we have Ikon, we finally decided to go up next Sunday-Tuesday. Other than the day lodge extinction, can you tell me what else has changed? And why do they only list 19 slopes open a week before xmas when it seems like we have had decent cold. In ye olde times we expected a lot more. (Tline is at 100%).
Thanks.
Oh, also, the changes. Parking keeps getting trickier, at least on the weekend for day pass people. Some of their best advanced trails now are to the skier's right of Widowmaker (which aren't opened yet), and that lift is high speed. I can't remember if that was added less than 15 years ago. If you're not careful, you'll spend all day at the Ballhooter lift.
