A-Basin is expecting 6-12 inches of fresh tonight and 48+ hours of snow making temps. Could we see a mid October opening? It would not be the first time.

It’s kinda crazy… 8” snow + 50hours of snowmaking would open almost every east coast resort with more than one trail(In November)

I’m thinking a basin will try to open high noon Sunday, but time will tell. I may be hopeful, because I’m currently out west and would be able to go to opening.

Well, the opening won't be as soon as I hoped. A-Basin stopped making snow -- because it ran out of water. It appears they are about half way there.

When the streams put more water in the pond, snow making will resume.

A-Basin has announced that it will open at 8:30 a.m. Sunday October 29.

Let's see if Keystone turns on the lights and opens  before 8:30

The Basin has the advantage of only needing to cover 600 feet of vert to open while Keystone needs to cover 1600.

At least winter park, eldora and killington will be joining the fun on Friday. I suspect others will begin making announcements as well.

Nice that ikon will have a few options this weekend in multiple regions.
