Where to rent xc skis or snowshoes near DC

We will be at Savage River Lodge next weekend, and it sounds like they have snow, but only open their rental shop if there is 12+ inches.
So I’d like to pick up xc ski or snowshoe rentals on the way there. Any idea where between DC area and Frostburg area offers rentals?

I can't think of any. Maybe check REI? But I doubt there's much demand in this area. You also might check Craigslist for cheap gear for sale.
