Warmer temperatures and some rain have interfered with an otherwise strong start of the ski season; it may have been a false start. Ski Roundtop was able to open for a day before succumbing to warm weather; Seven Springs has had an on-again, off-again season and will be reverting to the “off-again” part Monday morning. Wisp plans to remain open this week, although two trails will be closing for Monday. The best local skiing can be found at Snowshoe, although warmer temperatures there have prevented snowmaking and resulted in springlike conditions.

Nighttime temperatures this week should once again dip into snowmaking range. Snow showers are currently predicted for Friday.
