The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra will visit Snowshoe Mountain Resort this weekend, offering two classical concerts under the direction of Maestro Thomas Conlin. The theme for the Ninth Annual Snowshoe Mountain Symphony, to be held from August 20-22, is “Festa Italiana: A Salute to the Music and Culture of Italy.” The weekend will kick off on Friday evening, with a gourmet presentation of Italian cuisine and entertainment.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra will perform during a picnic. International foods and beverages will be served, while over 20 artisans will exhibit their wares during an Arts and Crafts show.

At 5 p.m. on Saturday, visitors will convene under an 11,000 square foot tent atop Snowshoe Mountain for the first symphony performance. A cocktail party and gourmet dinner will follow the performance.

The second symphony performance will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Violinist Philip Quint, winner of the 1996 Waldo Mayo Award and the Juilliard Competition, will join the Symphony during this performance.

For more information or to purchase tickets, contact the resort at (304) 572-1000. Tickets can also be purchased the day of the performance in the symphony tent.
