From October 31 through November 2, the Potomac Pedalers Touring Club (PPTC) and Baltimore Bicycling Club (BBC) will be sponsoring a weekend of fun at Virginia’s Chincoteague Island. Chincoteague Island and nearby Assateague National Seashore offer miles of scenic beaches, wild ponies, and birdlife.

On Friday, October 31, there will be scheduled rides starting at noon, an ice cream party to welcome guests, and orientation. More rides are on tap for Saturday along with a full course buffet dinner, with DJ dance, beer, wine, soda, and munchies. Sunday will offer more scheduled rides and ice cream.

Rides will range in distance from 5 to 100 miles and will cover Chincoteague Island, the Wildlife Refuge on Assateague Island, and country roads on the mainland. Terrain is flat to rolling and the weather is usually balmy.

Registration is $35 for PPTC members or $40 for non-members. This includes a full map packet and a name badge that will serve as admission to all evening activities. Lodging for the PPTC will be at the Chincoteague Motor Lodge; rates are $85 per room for two nights, and each room is equipped with two double beds. 72 rooms are available. Additional lodging will be available at other nearby motels.
