What’s New for 2001: Bear Creek Ski Area

The Bear Creek Ski & Recreation Area has been busy over the summer preparing for the upcoming winter season. Over $2.5 million has been invested to install a totally new electrical service on the entire mountain, and to double the size of the resort’s snowmaking system.

The new electrical service has allowed lighting to increase across the mountain for bright nighttime skiing. All trails are lit.

Snowmaking improvements have added new pipe and new mobile and tower mounted fan guns.

New landscaping has been added, and the palette of interior and exterior colors has also changed. The base lodge has new carpet and a new look has been added to the Out of Bounds Taproom. The Taproom has a new bistro menu, thanks to chef Rick Breyer.

Bear Creek was formerly known as Doe Mountain, and is located 20 minutes from Allentown and an hour from Philadelphia. The resort changed ownership several years ago.
