Pennsylvania’s Shawnee Mountain ski area has spent $1 million on capital improvements over the summer, installing two new ground-level conveyor lifts and purchasing a new Piston Bully Snow Cat, new ski and snowboard rental equipment, and additional snow guns. Several base area upgrades have also been performed.

The two new “people mover” lifts will be benefit snow tubers and beginning skiers and boarders. One of the lifts will be located in the “Pocono Plunge” tubing park, while the other will be located in the SKIwee teaching area.

The new Piston Bully Snow Cat features a flex tiller groomer and rounds out Shawnee Mountain’s grooming fleet. The resort plans to groom all 23 of its slopes nightly.

25 energy efficient “Whisper” snow guns have been added to improve snowmaking. The resort has also purchased 800 new Salomon and Dabello Ski Boots, 300 new Elan Skis with Salomon Bindings, 300 new VANS Snowboard Boots, and 200 new Bond Snowboards with Switch bindings. Shawnee Mountain’s rental shop is able to outfit over 4,000 skiers and riders each day.

The Hope Lodge, Trepp Lodge, and Rental Shop have had their roofs replaced, restrooms have been refurbished in the Trepp Lodge, and a new drainage system has been added to the repaved courtyard area.
