Wisp Opens Fantasy Valley Winter Recreation Area

Maryland’s Wisp Resort has added a new dining and recreation area to the resort called Fantasy Valley, which will provide snowmobiling, ice skating, and horse-drawn sleigh rides. Fantasy Valley is located on Hoyes Run Road adjacent to the golf course at Wisp.

Ice skating will be offered at Fantasy Valley from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., priced at $2 per person with proceeds benefiting the United Way of Garrett County. Guests are encouraged to bring their own skates, but limited rentals are available for $5 per rental. The availability of ice skating will be weather dependent; call 301-387-5635 for dates of operations.

One-hour guided snowmobile tours will be available at Fantasy Valley through wooded hills. The two-seater snowmobiles will be priced at $65 for the first rider and $15 for each additional person. King and Prince, two Belgium draft horses, will be giving sleigh rides on an 18-seat sleigh. The half-hour rides will go through the fields of Fantasy Valley. Daily rides will be given from December 26 through January 4, and on weekends and three-day holiday weekends for the remainder of the season. The half-hour sleigh rides begin on the hour, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Reservations can be made by calling 301-616-8406 after 6 p.m.

The Fantasy Valley Saloon will offer a full buffet from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily from December 26 through January 4, and on weekends and holiday weekends thereafter, priced at $12 for adults and $8 for children. Every Thursday through Saturday, the Saloon will offer “Grill Your Own” steaks, fresh fish, or chicken on their indoor grill, served with potatoes and a salad.
