To many, the arrival of the National Ski and Snowboard Expo signals the beginning of the ski season, and this year will be no different. The ski show, held in Washington, D.C., showcases the best of what’s new and hot for the upcoming winter outdoor season. This year, the show moves to the Capital Expo Center. (In past years, the show was held at the Ballston Common Mall.) The show will begin Friday, November 9, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. The show continues on Saturday, November 10 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, November 11, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In addition to hosting exhibitors, the show will feature free virtual reality ski racing, and a chance for visitors to win a trip to Sunday River, Maine. A free custom snowboard will also be given away to lucky visitors every hour of the show. And, continuing a long-held tradition, Warren Miller’s latest flick will be shown. A $5 movie ticket will grant admittance to see “Cold Fushion,” and will include a free lift ticket good at Liberty Mountain, Ski Roundtop, or Whitetail.

A Mega Ski Swap will also be held at the show. Consignments will begin Friday at 3 p.m. on the Capital Expo Center show floor, with proceeds benefitting the Virginia Special Olympics.

Admission to the show is $5, with free parking and free admittance for kids under 8.
