The following summarizes current conditions at area resorts.

Ski Liberty

Ski Liberty has eight slopes open, with a base depth from 16-24 inches. Surface conditions are machine-made packed snow. All lifts except the Quad Chairlift #4 and Children’s Handle are in operation. Next Saturday, February 7, Ski Liberty will be sponsoring a late night ski with 94.7 FM. Lift tickets from 9 p.m. until midnight will cost $9.47. On Sunday, February 8, the Van’s Ultimate Rider Boardercross Race will take place at Ski Liberty.

Snowshoe

Snowshoe Mountain Resort continues to steal all of the snow, having already received 132 inches of natural snow. The current base depth is 34-72 inches, with groomed packed powder surface condtions. All 54 trails at Snowshoe and Silver Creek are open. Concerning conditions on Sunday, a DCSki reader reported:

“The conditions today were among the best EVER. A few inches of new snow overnight, the guns were finally silenced, everything had been groomed, the sun was shining - a perfect day in paradise.”

Snowshoe was crowded this past weekend; the line at the Ball Hooter quad exceeded 45 minutes after the lift broke down for a short period of time, but generally averaged a 12 minute wait, according to a DCSki reader.

Ski Roundtop

Ski Roundtop has 11 slopes open, with a base depth from 15-30 inches. All lifts are in operation except the Fanny Hill J-Bar. Surface conditions are machine-made packed powder. On Wednesday and Saturday evening, Roundtop will host the Van’s Ultimate Series Half Pipe. Despite rumors to the contrary (which we have not heard at DCSki), Ski Roundtop plans to make snow throughout February and has no intention of closing for the season.

Seven Springs

14 slopes and 16 trails are open at Seven Springs, with a base depth from 38-50 inches (7-9 inches in natural snow areas). Conditions are powder and packed powder. 10 chairlifts and 6 surface lifts are in operation.

Whitetail

Thanks to ample snowmaking, Whitetail has expanded the number of open trails to 10. the base depth ranges from 13-33 inches, and surface conditions are packed powder. 5 lifts are in operation. Whitetail recently opened Drop In and Ridge Runner. Drop In is a short expert trail that drops to the bottom of the Expert’s Choice quad chairlift; skiers can take the lift to the top of the mountain and ski across Ridge Runner back to the intermediates. Whitetail hopes to open expert trails Bold Decision and Exhibition within the next couple days, if temperatures permit.

Wisp

All 23 trails are open at Wisp, with a base depth of 24-80 inches. Wisp recently received over a foot of natural snow. Conditions are packed powder and machine-groomed. All 7 lifts are in operation. On February 7 and 8, Wisp will host the Wisp Cup and Wisp Memorial races.
