What’s New for 2010: Sugar Mountain
Author thumbnail By M. Scott Smith, DCSki Editor

Sugar Mountain’s Red Lift will run smoother this winter, with a brand new drive station and new chairs. The lift provides slopeside access to the Sugar Ski & Country Club, and drops skiers and snowboarders off at the top of the Big Red slope.

Sugar Mountain has also replaced its fleet of snow grooming machines. The fleet now includes three new Piston Bully snow grooming machines, including a winch cat, which will help the North Carolina resort groom its steepest trails.

Snowmaking enhancements include the purchase of six energy-efficient snowmaking machines, and the upgrade of 1,500 feet of snowmaking pipes servicing the Terrain Park.
