Night Shots from Whitetail 3
Author thumbnail By M. Scott Smith, DCSki Editor

I took the following photos at Pennsylvania’s Whitetail Resort on the evening of January 18, 2009. Whitetail was quite crowded on Sunday, although crowds began to taper off in the evening (no doubt as people fled to watch the football games). Whitetail is 100% open, with good coverage on all the trails. By mid-afternoon, some icy spots began to form on most trails as the fresh snow was skied off from all the crowds.

Impressive variety of perspectives on Whitetail at night, Scott: closeup, telephoto, wide-angle and everything in between! You saved the best one for last IMHO. Would you mind telling what kind of camera and lenses you're using?

Thanks Woody. The camera was the Nikon D3 (which has fantastic low-light performance), and I used two lenses: the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G lens and the Nikon VR 105mm macro lens (good for close-ups or telephoto, and currently my favorite lens).
