Pennsylvania’s Whitetail Resort opened for the season on Saturday, December 6, 2008, with seven trails and five lifts in operation. (The trail count expanded to eight on Sunday.) Skiers and snowboarders were able to take Whitetail’s newest trail, Sidewinder, for a spin. The beginner trail starts at the top of the Easy Rider Quad and curves its way through the valley back to the base. Whitetail kicked off the season with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new trail. Sidewinder is the first new trail Whitetail has cut since 1994.

Whitetail invested over $2.7 million dollars in improvements for the 2008-2009 winter season.
