Warm Weather Closes Liberty; Whitetail Hours Scaled Back

Mother Nature has a strange sense of humor. The recent stretch of warm temperatures has begun to take its toll on area resorts. Ski Liberty is the first casualty, closing its doors yesterday until colder temperatures return to the area. Liberty will decide whether to re-open for the weekend on Friday.

Meanwhile, Whitetail Ski Resort will be skipping its night session through Friday. The resort will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. today through Friday, but our advice is to check with the resort to verify they’re open before making the drive.

Ski Roundtop remains open with a number of trails, and very springlike conditions. Seven Springs, Wisp, and Snowshoe remain open with the bulk of their terrain, although conditions are distinctly loose granular.

Rain is expected late this week, but not to fear - colder temperatures should return Sunday, with a high not far above freezing, and nighttime temperatures back in snowmaking range. Don’t put the skis away for the season just yet.
