A snowmaking upgrade at Wintergreen will bring more snow earlier in the season to the slopes of the Virginia resort. Wintergreen is supplementing its computerized snowmaking system with additional eco-friendly automated fan guns, manufactured by Johnson Controls Snow. These new guns produce more snow with less power than older guns. According to the resort, the new fan guns are able to operate earlier in the season and have the potential to increase production by 44 percent before the winter holidays.
