A new gated residential community is currently under construction at West Virginia’s Snowshoe Mountain Resort, and the 22-acre real estate development features the first 100 percent Energy Star-rated homes in West Virginia. Sawmill Village features 110 home sites, with homes ranging in price from $750,000 to over $3 million. The homes incorporate the latest in “green” building materials and methods.

“We have committed ourselves to taking ‘green’ building practices to a new level,” said Thomas Tretheway, developer of Sawmill Village.

Sawmill Village has formed a partnership with Canadian-based Intrawest, which purchased Snowshoe in 1995. As part of this partnership, Sawmill Village contributed $1 million to the development of three new ski trails. Located near the Widowmaker trail, the three slopes will open this winter. Sawmill Village will provide ski-in, ski-out access.
