Due to a variety of schedule conflicts our next family trip to Snowshoe will not occur until the weekend of 3/9 - right when the Ballhooter Spring Break is happening. What sort of insanity have I signed up for?

We went during Ballhooter Spring Break a couple of years ago, and I didn't find it any crazier than normal.  I think there was a pond skimming contest near the top of Ballhooter.

I'm hoping we might be able to make that weekend as well.  I have my next x ray March 7th, and could get cleared by the doc to ski after that...

Good luck getting cleared to ski. Let me know if you are there that weekend, maybe we can meet up for some turns.

You will be fine.  This will be fourth year in a row that we are there.   Rain is your biggest worry..May be loud in village until 11.. but otherwise just a lot more going on.

Be sure your family makes it to rope drop at 9 AM near Ballhooter Sat and Sun.  It won't be crowded first thing AM.

All those "rookie spring breakers" will be doing beer bongs and shot trains Fri and Sat night.  They'll be hung over and not make it out until 10 - 11 AM.

Afternoon on Sat may require a trip to Silver Creek to avoid some typical crowding.  There may be a few younger folks on the slopes amped up with some liquid courage but I've never had an issues.

I was thinking more of rowdiness in Mountain Lodge at night than any issues with overcrowding on the slopes. Get off my lawn!

Will the shuttle still be running to Silver Creek in March? I thought I saw something indicating that regular shuttle service ends in February but perhaps I misunderstood.

I would look at some of the events going on before you rule out attending them. Some of them from what I remember are actually family friendly

I can assure you the new security guy at ML will "encourage" folks to "act like you've been in public before".  He scares me and we are friendly. Great guy!

Love the lawn reference from Gran Torino.  The new guy reminds me of this  scene

I know that one piece of wisdom around here is "Never cancel a trip due to a weather forecast", but I really do hope things turn around before March 9th!

Get out to the slopes early, stay off the Silver Creek shuttle back to Snowshoe late, you should be fine.
