Hey there: Going to Deep Creek MD area for the first time this weekend (near Wisp, though skiing's obviously off the table).

I'd love to hear from anyone who's familiar with the area and can offer suggestions for things to do.

Particularly interested in finding a good hike within a 20/30-minute driving range... something suitable for kids but still challenging.

It's literally been 30 yrs since my days at WVU but Coopers Rock SP is right off I 68 and has a lot of hiking trails.

What's up doc? Check out swallow falls, 10 minutes south of Arrowhead.

Check out Savage River State Forest and Savage River Lake, a stunningly beautiful lake. There is more than 100,000 acres of public land in Garrett County, so there are many hiking opportunities.

I agree with Jimmy and Snowsmith. Don't pass up those other areas to drive out to Coopers.
