Good day with the family at Wintergreen. Snow on the trails served by the Big Acorn lift was in really good shape, with a lot of loose snow from snowmaking on the sides of the trails to play around in. Big Acorn run itself was closed, but it looked like they have enough snow to open it once they push the piles into place. Icier on the Highlands side in the PM, especially on lower cliffhanger, but fun to keep to the better snow on skier's right with short radius turns.

One nice bonus was that Wintergreen's glade run (Sunrise Glades) was open. Given that WTG has had 0 natural snow in December and January this was unexpected. The blow-in from snowmaking on the two adjacent trails was enough to allow skiing. The surface in there was really nice, not marginal at all.

Continuing our tour of the various food and drink options near Wintergreen we had dinner afterwards at the Wild Wolf Brewery. This place opened fairly recently (2011) and provides a 3rd local brewery option in addition to Devil's Backbone and Blue Mountain.

Both the ski season and winter microbrew season are in full swing!

Excellent!  Hoping the cold sticks around this week long enough to kep Highlands open and add to the base.  We'll be there Monday MLK Day.

Got out to wintergreen this morning for a couple hours. Did laps on the Highlands trails until it was time to head into work. Conditions were good. Interestingly enough Outer Limits was left ungroomed. I am not sure how long they have been doing this - at any rate, no moguls had formed. I am not sure what the long-term plans are. Hopefully moguls will form at some point.
