OK, taking a day off and located in Winchester, so T-Line is 2:00, Blue Knob is 2:00, Whitetail is 1:00, Wintergreen is 2:00, Massanutten is 1:15. Love the trees, so T-Line is calling BUT if Wintergreen or Massanutten got a dump and will have good conditions (ungroomed stuff), I would go there. I noticed Wintergreen closed today (winds and power outrage), so maybe it is not tracked up too badly. Anyhow, want to get some opinions out there!

Definitely Timberline/Canaan Valley. The temp will remain mostly below freezing point there while it will warm up too much at Wintergreen and Mass -- good if you like soft snow, but I am sure most of us prefer powder!

Tomorrow in the valley will be epic!

Don't count on powder at WTG, but I would expect the snow conditions to remain good through Friday (the high Thurs is only 35F, and that's not warm enough to really offset the cooling capacity of their deep snow base.

The real problem across the whole region tomorrow will be wind, in the 20-28mph range with gusts into the 37mph range. That can cause issues with lift operations, and also impact power and travel with all the heavy snow in the trees. Friday may actually be the better day to ski overall.

According to the forecast on WTG's site, tomorrow's high will be around 39 F while in the valley, high will be around 31 F (using zip 26260 on NWS)

The condition at Canaan valley / Timberline should be great until Saturday when temp soars up to the 50's!

Comon baby...roll the dice..here it comes...I predict a high sat at TL of 41 on top and 45 at the bottom...

...Whitegrass...or anywhere in the backcountry around Canaan Valley that is decent angle...

Weather model ensemble for WTG (my own special sauce). I was there today and the winds were less steady than expected, but definitely gusting up into the 30-40mph range periodically, especially at the top of the Highlands. At the top of Cliffhanger, the new snow was scoured down to boilerplate, which was a sight to see. Thankfully, down lower on the hill, the wind wasn't bad at all.

I don't think WTG's forecast on their website is very good -- I suspect it's possibly a valley forecast. It's always about 4-7deg warmer than reality and my models. For a while they were using the NWS point forecast on their site, which was decent, but they've always been challenged with good weather info on their site. Maybe they are marketing to southern skiers and trying to make it appear warmer than it is!

It definitely felt warm at the base of the Highlands lift today, which is lower in elevation than other parts of the mountain, plus the sun was scorching with all the snow reflection (felt like the beach). Other parts of the mountain were cool and comfortable. The natural snow held up well.
