Resort Overview - reported by M. Scott Smith, DCSki Editor

In November, 2006, Montage Mountain was purchased by a Philadelphia-based firm and changed its name to Sno Mountain. Montage was previously owned by Lackawanna County. The newly-named Sno Mountain opened for the 2006-2007 winter season in mid-December, 2006, with 193 new snowguns.

In the past, Montage Mountain was known for its good snowmaking and being generally less crowded than other Poconos resorts. The resort has been popular with upper intermediate and advanced skiers, with plenty of steeps to challenge both and a respectable 1,000-foot vertical. The layout of the mountain is naturally separated by ability level. Snowboarders and skiers are also well served by an extensive terrain park.

Sno Mountain also has a tubing park.

Summer Activities

During the summer, Sno Mountain operates the Sno Cove water park.

On Mountain this Sunday. The Conditions have been good all year (new sno-guns make the difference), but Sunday was nothing short of spectacular. Check it out... it's worth it. New Management makes a huge difference.

Tubing at Sno - at your own risk!
Had a tubing accident on Dec 29th because mats that should slow you down where not out - trying to get portion of bill not covered by insurance paid by sno but have not had repeated phone calls returned - time to call someone else in or can I please get a response?

Wanted to Give an Update
I posted a comment about Sno (the ski area formerly known as Montage) Mountain two years ago (Jan 2K8) which for the most part was quite positive. Over the past three years I have logged about 60 days at the mountain. Quite honestly, it's been disappointing. It appears that the "water park" has become a higher priority for management. The winter operation seems to be taking a back seat. My advice: Drive past Sno and go to Elk. The management team their is more focused, and is providing a superior product.
