I was wondering the same.  If anyone could do it, it would be 7S.  Pretty sure the Shoe is firm on 11/21.

It could be a hit. I'll be at Laurel Saturday cleaning glades. Headed to 7S later to pick up unsold from last week's swap. I'll take my skis.

I'd love to be able to go next Friday or Saturday.

Big Boulder is opening this Friday, its on the Peak Pass, and about the same drive as 7 Springs. It looks like it is usually mostly parks, but I've never been there. If Springs doesnt open that is probably the closest option.

Blue Knob is now blowing snow.

Wonder how deep the snow is at 7S.  Webcam is showing pretty good coverage.

Article about 7S in the Trib this morning.  Video states they hope to open the weekend of Thanksgiving.

I expect Springs to open the friday or sat after Thanksgiving, that's traditionally when they open if conditions allow. Of course, it will be total chaos with 8000 people all bombing down 3 slopes. And of course, I may be one of them!

If this storm had dropped a half a foot on the Ridge I think the bull wheel would be cranking but rain and sleet do not a base make. Let's hope for Thanksgiving opening.

Seven Springs and HV always shoot for a Thanksgiving opening. Given that turkey day is on 11/22, this may be the earliest I have ever skied, locally, in 40+ years of skiing. HV has also been blowing snow non-stop. Hopefully, the chilly weather holds up for next week.

7S had 6 trails plus Arctic Blast terrain park open (Wagner, Fawn Lane, Phillip's, Stowe Slope and Trail, Cortina Trail) and 3 lifts (Polar Bear, Tryol, and Cortina).

HV opened Saturday, but only with 5 runs on the right side (Upper/Lower Continental, Riviera, Bobcat, Rambler). Didn't make it out there to try anything with only those runs open.

They'll have some decent snowmaking weather midweek, so I expect them to be open again - possibly with another trail or two at each.

Snowshoe is open and it is snowing, both from the skies and their majorly upgraded snowmaking capability!!

The "season begins" when it snows, and "ends" when there is no corn left to ski on. I skied four days at White Grass about a week ago. Enjoying skiing only when the lifts are running will only leave you with less enjoyment, but still the same amount of snow :)

A cold snap is expected mid-to-late next week.  ST is expecting to fire up the guns.  RT's already made some snow and will fire them up at first opportunity next week.

I skied Appalachian Sunday.  They closed yesterday to build base back up this week.  Saturday and Sunday they will be seling 5 dollar lift tickets for the day session..  that's right, ski 9-4 for FIVE bucks Saturday and Sunday.  I'll probably be there Sunday if the weather looks decent..  Saturday looks like hard raon :-( but it is to early for a good forecast.

App is technically not in the Mid-Atlantic.  But there are some of us on DCSki who live in NC who also ski in VA and WV.

The NC mountains include several ski areas.  Beech Mountain is over 5000 ft.  The two larger ski areas near Banner Elk and Boone are Sugar and Beech.  Appalachian is only about 25 acres but just a couple miles from Boone, which is a college town with App State so get plenty of folks for night sessions.  Cataloochee is south of Asheville.  Wolf and Sapphire Valley are around there as well.

Cat and Sugar typically open first.  App can make a lot of snow but waits until there is solid coverage before opening.
